Dr. Marianna Szczygielska is a Research Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science in Berlin. Her research explores the histories of human-animal relations, zoological knowledge, animal materiality and the cultural politics of science, drawing on feminist, queer, and multispecies approaches. She is the author of Queer Zoo Animals: Sexualities in Captivity, forthcoming from the University of Washington Press in 2027. She is the associate editor of Humanimalia journal, and has worked on curatorial and digital humanities projects.
