Marc Appis

Since 2024, I'm a PhD student at the Berlin Institute of Health at Charité (BIH) and the Berlin Institute of Medical Systems Biology of the Max Delbrück Center (MDC-BIMSB). In the group of Leif Ludwig, I apply single-cell technologies to investigate how pathogenic mutations in the DNA of mitochondria - the cells powerhouses - are cleared from immune cells. Besides my main research, I'm also interested in science communication and moderate science slams.
