Malte Taffner (*1994, lives and works in Leipzig) is a visual artist whose practice explores the interrelations between human and non-human species and their environments. Drawing on feminist posthumanist theories, his work envisions forms of cross-species coexistence and investigates on societal, political and ecological questions.
Through installations, objects and collaborative formats, Taffner explores strategies of sustainable cooperation and the potential of natural and technological resources for imagining alternative futures.
Malte Taffner studied Fine Arts at the Braunschweig University of Art (HBK) and Kyoto Seika University in Japan. In 2021, he completed his Meisterschüler degree. His works have been shown nationally and internationally, including at the PIANA Gallery, Kraków, the Kestner Gesellschaft, Hanover, Kunstverein Braunschweig and Shoot the Lobster, New York.
He has been awarded scholarships and grants from institutions such as the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft, the German Academic Scholarship Foundation (Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes) and Stiftung Kunstfonds.
