Dr. Kim Geraldine Mortega is an ornithologist and urban ecologist at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. As part of her broader work, she explores how animals especially birds communicate and thrive in cities after dark—from nightingales and owls to bats and moths—and how sound and artificial light shape these nocturnal communities. She designs inclusive citizen science programs and collaborates across disciplines to connect biodiversity research with everyday practice and policy.
