Grace Baggott

Grace Baggott is a Berlin based Artist, Filmmaker and Curator. Her Artistic practice and research explores filmmaking as a form of sculpture, exploring methods of using analogue materials and apparatus to construct structural outcomes. She is fascinated with the tactility and unpredictability of film bridging this material intimacy relationship between film and filmmaker. She often uses these characteristics to conceptually define each independent work and project she produces. With process being key to her practice she uses each stage of the process to experiment with various alternative techniques, in areas such as shooting, developing and projecting, often exploring eco recipes to develop and print her films and shape her work contextually. 

Her films are grounded in material experimentation and lived experience, informed by walking and direct engagement with communities and landscapes. The relationship between humans and the natural world emerges as central to her practice and research. 

Alongside her contribution at S A V V Y Contemporary: The Laboratory of Form-Ideas in curation and management, she is an active member of the analogue moving image scene in Berlin and the UK. She is a member of LaborBerlin, a collectively organised film laboratory based in Wedding.
