Professor Eilish McLoughlin

Professor Eilish McLoughlin completed a BSc in Applied Physics and a PhD in semiconductors before starting her academic career at Dublin City University (DCU) in 2000.

She has received several awards and accolades for her contributions to physics and STEM Education in Ireland and is on a mission to influence the learning and teaching of physics in Ireland.

Eilish leads the engaged research programme for education and public education for Rínn Semiconductors, Ireland's new national semiconductor research centre, which started in July 2026.

Eilish will be moderating our Berlin Science Week event, using her expertise from many years in STEM education and research to make the topic accessible to audience members of all ages and levels of semiconductor knowledge!
