Dr. Tihomir Rangelov received his training in linguistics at universities in Bulgaria, Sweden, Iceland and New Zealand, and since 2021 he has been a postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig. His research interests include language evolution (language change, birth and death), historical linguistics, phonetics and phonology, and language ecology. His work revolves around documenting endangered languages. He has been working with communities of speakers of small endangered languages in remote areas of Vanuatu (South Pacific) for the past nine years.
