Denise Bianco is a Senior Research Community Manager at The Alan Turing Institute, UK’s national institute for data science and AI. She is currently involved in the Advancing Biomedical Data Science Careers project, documenting skills, roles, and team science approaches to support the recognition and advancement of data science careers in biomedical research. At the Institute, Denise is also a co-organiser for the AI & Arts interest group, a cross-disciplinary community exploring the mutual influence of technological research and the arts.
Alongside her role at Turing, Denise is a Ph.D. candidate and Associate Lecturer at Central Saint Martins, University of the Arts London. Her research examines the evolving relationship between the arts and sciences as a model for transdisciplinary collaboration. She explores barriers to collaboration, analyses the development of transdisciplinary expertise, and maps the competencies needed for effective teamwork, contributing to broader discussions on how cross-disciplinary efforts address complex societal challenges. Within the MA Innovation Management programme, Denise mentors students by offering creative perspectives and practical experience in applied innovation, and supports their research journey with methodological guidance. Her expertise includes qualitative research methods, cross-disciplinary innovation processes, and the responsible development and adoption of digital technologies.
