Bastian Boss

Bastian Boss is a Berlin-based creative who thinks best while moving, ideally on two wheels. He works across design, strategy and storytelling, and he likes turning half-formed ideas into projects and products.

With UltraNiceCycling he turned that restlessness into a way of life. In 2025 and 2026 he rode around the world by bike with his partner. They went slowly, at the speed where a landscape stops being scenery and starts telling you things: wind, dust, forests, wild companions and many forgotten places nobody puts on a postcard. UltraNiceCycling began as an idea to combine bikepacking with crowdfunding for projects that make cycling more accessible. It has since grown into a personal playground for stories, ideas and tools for fellow bikepackers.

The initial spark came 15 years ago, when he co-founded Faradgang e.V., a volunteer-run collective in Berlin and Cologne. Faradgang gives unwanted bikes a second life. They are collected and repaired together with people who couldn’t otherwise get one, many of them refugees, and then handed over as their own.

What remains: a lot of questions, a well-used bike and a deep respect for the people and places he met along the way.
