Compassionate Use of Psilocybin – Current and Future Developments
In the last decade studies on psychedelic substances have demonstrated beneficial and sustainable effects on depression, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, PTSD and substance use disorders. Some substances like psilocybin are in Phase III study, i.e. close to approval in the health systems.
In addition to this, the German government has now approved the treatment of depression with psilocybin outside of studies – in the framework of a so-called Compassionate Use program.
The evening is about explaining why and how this happened and what the future of these substances in mental health and human development could look like.
