2021

Dr. Vittoria Sposini completed her university education in her home country, Italy, where she obtained her BSc from the University of Perugia in 2014 and her MSc from the University of Bologna in 2016. For her Master’s thesis, she completed a three-month stage at BCAM – Basque Center for Applied Mathematics in Bilbao (Spain) in Dr. Gianni Pagnini’s group. She then moved to Germany to do her doctoral research at the University of Potsdam, in Professor Ralf Metzler’s group. Her close ties to the group at BCAM led to the establishment of a joint PhD programme between the University of Potsdam and the University of the Basque Country in Bilbao. Vittoria Sposini defended her Doctorate in Theoretical Physics and Mathematics & Statistics in December 2020. She is currently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Vienna within the REWIRE Programme, a Marie Sklodowska Curie Actions COFUND project funded by the European Commission with the main goal of reinforcing women in research. She works in Professor Christos Likos’ group focusing on the stochastic modelling and statistical analysis of thermal and active motion in disordered systems, with an application to soft matter physics.
