Clemens Wendtner is a Professor of Medicine and Chief Physician at Munich Clinic Schwabing, an academic hospital of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) Munich. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he has treated the first German patients with COVID-19 in his centre and acted as consultant for the National Academy of Sciences (Leopoldina) and the Federal as well as the Bavarian Ministry of Health. As a researcher he has published more than 200 articles in peer-reviewed journals including NEJM, Cell, Nature, Lancet, Blood, and others. Since 2019, he is Deputy Director of the Scientific Ethics committee of LMU.
He is a Scientific Expert in the SMC Data Base and participated in many SMC Briefings, Rapid Reactions and Research in Context for registered journalists.
