‘Make’ Your Transition – Together

CONFIRM CENTRE, Embassy of Ireland, Germany | Niall Keely, Sean O’Brien

Research and innovation are key to the continued development of our society. Given the global challenges we are facing, how can research and education contribute to a sustainable future?

This one-hour virtual session will be led by CONFIRM, the Science Foundation Ireland funded research centre for Smart Manufacturing based at the University of Limerick, Ireland.

The focus of the session will be to discuss how CONFIRM plans to tackle the sustainability issues facing society through both its Research and Education & Public Engagement (EPE) programmes, through the lenses of social, economic, environmental and human sustainability.

During the talk, we will present an overview of  CONFIRM’s Research and EPE programmes with particular emphasis on how these aim to address the industry’s future skills needs. In addition, we will explain how CONFIRM plans to introduce the concepts of circularity and sustainability across its core programmes.

Audience Q&A and discussion will be facilitated following the presentations.

“Three is the magic number: the triple helix of innovation and the triple bottom line of sustainability”
