Elise is a PhD student at the Max Planck Institute for Gravitational Physics in Potsdam. She works on testing Einstein's theory of gravity using gravitational waves from inspiraling compact objects. These objects can be black holes, neutron stars, or something more exotic. To do this, she analyses data from the gravitational wave detectors, LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA.
Elise is originally from the Netherlands and obtained her bachelors degree in physics and mathematics from Utrecht University, and her masters degree in astronomy and cosmology from Leiden University.
